Bites of my Life

Posted up in front of the TV watching the Emmy's sipping on a cup of hot chocolate. I really wanted froyo, but someone *cough Kathleen cough* wouldn't go with me, and I couldn't stoop to getting froyo by myself. Hot coco with cinnamon (try it) and a handful of butterscotch chips sufficed my sugar craving. Does anyone else like butterscotch chips? They are the super underrated in my opinion.

Last week started with pumpkin smoothies and ended with a pumpkin date consisting of PSLs and hunting Target for all of their pumpkin flavored goodies with one of my old and favorite co-workers. We have a mutual obsession with this seasonal flavor and like to capitalize on it.

My friends and I started a kickball team and had our first game on Wednesday. Let's just say I was better at providing the halftime snacks and "adult" Capri Suns than actually providing skill for the team. We celebrated Lindz's birthday with spicy cocktails and sinful snacks, and then welcomed a houseful of besties all in town for the OU game this weekend. Bon weekend!

-Looks like a healthy green smoothie, acts like a healthy green smoothie, but tastes like pumpkin pie. You're welcome.
-My skin is going through a little bit of a situation. Big sis Claire acted as my interim dermatologist and suggested trying all natural face products. Picked up this toner, previously recommended by Molly and purchased this face wash from Claire's favorite spa in NYC.
-Take a Bite went on the tour de matcha of OKC to find the best matcha latte. Read the post to see my fav!
-Fire on the Pineapple cocktail at Guyutes is my favorite drink in OKC currently.
-Celebrated roomie Lindz turning 24 with these waffle fries I can't stop thinking about. Topped with tequila queso, pulled pork, cilantro crema, tomatoes, japs, red onions and sunny side egg.
-The Sooners may have let us down again, but with all my friends near and far in town, the weekend still won.
-Green juice and movie theater popcorn because it's all about balance;) Highly recommend Sully.
-After scouring the pumpkin display at Sprouts, I eyed their bottled pumpkin salad dressing. Almost pulled the plug on buying it when I realized I could make my own. I snapped a pic of the ingredient list and went home to whip it up.
-Tossed a loaded veggie salad with my pumpkin dressing. Give or take measurements of pumpkin puree, red wine vinegar, olive oil, maple syrup, water, dijon mustard, pumpkin pie spice, and s&p all got thrown in.

Bites of My Life

Days are getting shorter, and temps are getting lower, fall is on the brim. I woke up yesterday after a perfect girly weekend for my bachelorette Katie. I woke up, walked outside to a deck over looking the lake and got hit with that crisp smell of fall. There is nothing more delicious. I know you know what I'm talking about.

After a short week (that felt so long, why is that?) I headed out for Katie's bachelorette bash. It was the perfect weekend of extreme amounts of junk food, mimosas in the morning, laying out dockside, Joe T Garcia's, and cheesy bachelorette fun. I snoozed all afternoon yesterday after getting home, which is a sign of a great weekend. Woke up in time to catch Miss America! Currently girl crushing over winner, Savvy Shields from Arkansas (where she was a Kappa!!!!).

-Crispy hatch green chili sausages and greens for dinner last week, following this recipe.
-You've Got Mail is the quintessential fall movie and how I'm coping not having Parenthood to watch at night anymore. Bawled the whole last episode. Make Parenthood your next Netflix binge if you haven't already.
-Another week of tastings for this project I get to help see come to life!
-An eclectic array of Asian supermarket finds. Tupperware, wasabi sesame seeds, wasabi peas and ginger chews.
-Huge snack attack last week. I blame the airport candy from last weekend for getting my sugar cravings going. I went ham on the big bins at the store. Check my insta to see what made it in!
-Greeted with this feast of a spread to commence KG's bach weekend! My crack mix made an appearance!
-Mimosas in the morning. Breakfast casserole not pictured.
-Edible lingerie, the tasteful kind.
-So much love for our bride to be. Felt like the days of seven girl in the kappa house getting to all be together.

Make sure and catch last weeks Bacon Wrapped Dates recipe and What I'm Listening to post!

Bites of My Life

Last week my parent's jetted off to SoCal (JELLY) and I stayed back to make sure their house didn't go up in flames. It didn't, so I think I did okay. I felt like I was on a mini vacation getting to pack up a bag and relocate living quarters for the week. Despite waking up in their dreamy abode, my patience was tested with their attention seeking puppy. We were both pushed to the limit, but we made it out alive! Visits from close friends and the addition of lot's of rose` made my puppy patience subside a bit.

The last week/weekend of August was a great one. Wine nights, a going away party, CPA celebrations, a bridal shower and banana bread baking rounded it out. Now it's almost September. HOW?

-Matcha Monday.
-Bites alongside Bon Appetit page views.
-If you didn't know, dates are nature's candy. So sweet and sinful, add some crunchy AB on top and your sweet tooth is cured.
-So much love for last week's recipe. Turns out I'm not the only one who loves sweet potatoes and figs!
-#GabetheBabe quickly turned into #GabetheMenace when I got put in charge of him.
-While house sitting for my parents, I took the time to dig through my mom's old family recipes. These cream cheese walnut brownies reminded me of an after school 4th grade snack!
-Friday's are made for best friends, rose, and epic charcuterie boards.
-This breakfast. 1/4 avocado, 2 scrambled eggs with spinach, harissa sauce all over a pile of spinach.
-SB can final return to reality post CPA mayhem!
-Bridal shower bites.
-My bridey to be! So much fun getting to shower you!
-Sister got her gallbladder taken out over the weekend. When I asked her if she needed anything, she said the only thing she was craving was banana bread. Overripe bananas already in the freezer to the rescue! Whipped up a late night batch of my banana bread (with cinnamon added this time)!

I finished a book. Did you hear that? Annie "hater of reading" Tucker, finished a book. Pick up a few of Shauna Niequist's books if you get a chance, I highly recommend. I also had a very vivid dream that I was invited to a pre-opening shopping event at our Trader Joe's that is supposed to open next month. It was a good week to say the least.

-Most idyllic start to my week.
-Figgy pudding aka chia pudding with figs and gogi berries. Sister hated it, I loved it, to each his own.
-Snack plate lunch makes for the best lunch al desko. Figs, hard boiled eggs, salami or prosciutto, apple and veggies are on rotation.
-I have a little project up my sleeve and it tastes and sips deliciously.
-A dear dear friend of mine and I have been trying to make our lunch dates a frequent thing. Salads and our convos always fill me up!
-My little londonite is home in Texas for about a month. I'll get to see her in September, but was able to sneak in a hug while she was in OK for the day!
-When you run out of groceries and momma treats you right!
-The cutest plant shop in town just added coffee and treats to their repertoire. Can't wait to plug in and get my grind on in the atmosphere they've created.
-Happy 3rd birthday OKC Lululemon! A birthday, my besties, and barre3; so fun at #sweatstock2016.
-Counters are the new chairs apparently.
-"Savoring" Sunday morning with my new Shauna book and breakfast in bed.
-Becoming one of those Sunday meal prep nerds. Shredded chicken, sliced veggies, homemade mango salsa, balsamic salad dressing, hard boiled eggs and roasted sweet potatoes.

Bites of My Life

By the looks of my pictures last week, my days seemed to be full of bright colorful plates of food. Meals aside, my days weren't so colorful. I was on a streak of weird mishaps happening each day. Little things like breaking a brand new compact of bronzer to getting tea all over my white comforter. But the cherry on top was a car wreck. Thursday evening ended with a boom, bump, crash. No one was hurt except for my car. Counting my blessings!

After the hump of weird occurrences I settled into the weekend with a delicious dinner with friends and drinks with more friends. Some of my oldest friends to be exact. Then a cozy Saturday night in with my Lindz for take out on the couch and a chick flick on the TV. Crossing my fingers for better karma this week.

-I know this is so basic, but I've been making this salad dressing of equal parts dijon mustard, balsamic, & olive oil then a little s&p all whisked together. Been eating it on everything, but really loving it on kale/spinach with cinnamon roasted sweet potatoes, chicken and avocado.
-Snack plate lunch beats sad dreary salads any day.
-Dinner a la whole foods. Their hot bar indian food sucks me in every time.
-Sneaking figs into every meal I can. Didn't have strawberries so I subbed in blueberries to make this fig smoothie recipe!
-Proof to show my week didn't only revolve around food. A little blue and blue and lots of hugs and squeals at KKG alumni night.
-Pretty plated Saturday breakfast.
-Blueberry spinach smoothie bowl with all zeee toppings. Feeling the blueberry vibes clearly...
-Sunday morning baking is becoming my favorite "me time" activity. Blueberry Banana Streusel Muffins were yesterday's culprit. Loved them so much I already posted the recipe
-Sausage peppers and onions cooked in a tomato sauce is a take on a dish my mom used to make. Perfect Sunday night comfort food!
