Bites of My Life

Another week has come and gone. School is quickly ending and summer is fast approaching! Last week consisted of the OKC Arts Festival, Barre3, date parties, lunch at my favorite burger place, quality time at home and the arrival of spring allergies...thankful for many cups of green tea to save my aching throat.

{Bites from the Week}
Clockwise from the top left corner:
-Always a goodtime with my girl Betsy at our last date party of the semester.
-Channeling Contessa's post for Iced Almond Milk Caramel Lattes last week has me giddy for iced coffee season! Not to mention they are made with almond milk (I have a slight obsession).
-My favorite pesto pea salad, tilapia and summer squash with thyme and feta make for the perfect Sunday night dinner.
-A sweet friend of mine came running up to me this weekend excited to show me her freshly painted mint nails! She had her mom ship it to her after reading my "Mint" post. It's reassuring to know people are actually reading and taking in what I'm writing about.
 {Bites from Lunch}
Sunday's lunch gets its own highlight. What's not to love about a restaurant that share's your last name. Tucker's Onion Burgers uses all local ingredients which makes for the best burger in my opinion. This was my first time to their Classen Curve location and it didn't disappoint.
Now back to the reality that finals are next week and the days ahead will consist of lots of studying and lots of coffee. Wish me luck!

Outfit Inspiration

Don't you hate when you find something on Pinterest, but can't find the original source? You can still get inspiration or ideas from the pictures, but sometimes you want to know exactly where to find the products in the pin.
This morning, I was doing my usual pinning and came across this image of a casual spring dress mixed with a chunky necklace and military jacket. I couldn't find the originally source, so I did my own re-creation.

The Shoe Blues

c450x412.jpg
I have the shoe blues right now. I always have luck finding shoes. My mom and I like to pride ourselves on being such good shoe shoppers. My sister on the other hand, not so much. My mom usually is the one who has to pick out her shoes.
Despite my normal luck in finding shoes, it hasn't been the case recently. I have been looking for a pair of new dressy nude heels but I'm striking out. They either don't come in my size, are too much than I want to spend or just not right all together.
I have tried to buy 1, 4, and 6 but they are all not available in my size. I'm about to throw in the towel on the nude heel search. I love every pair below, but they just aren't in the cards.

If you have seen a great pair or have any recommendations please send them my way!

Paint Your Art Out

When I was seven I was convinced I would grow up to be an artist, I even dressed up as an artist for Halloween one year. Let's just say there has been a slight change of plans since then. I wouldn't say I'm not artistic, but I definitely wouldn't say I'm an artist.
Recently, abstract paintings have been catching my eye on Pinterest. I have an itch to paint something and these are making me want to recreate one of my own. Painting a big multi-colored canvas is on the summer to do list. I think it would be the perfect addition to mix in with a gallery wall. Here a couple of images I've found for inspiration.
This DIY makes it look so simple.
I hope I'm not being naive in thinking I can paint a canvas like these, but they seem simple enough to recreate. With an abstract painting, you can't really go wrong. Simply just throw enough colors on and paint them around until you achieve something you are happy with. I need to get to painting soon and hopefully my results will be good enough to share! Stay tuned!

I Love You OKC

Two of my favorite things are happening in Oklahoma City this week. The Festival of the Arts (aka the Arts Festival) and NBA playoffs.

I can't claim myself to be a resident of Oklahoma City, but with it sandwiched between the two towns I do live in, I feel like I live there sometimes. Oklahoma City has grown into so much in the recent years, so today I want to praise one of my favorite cites and two of my favorite events going on.

First is the Arts Festival. Every year the Arts Council puts on the festival running Tuesday to Sunday. It takes over streets downtown and the newly revamped Myriad Gardens. Artists from all over set up booths, and restaurants around town provide amazing food. Its called the "Festival of the Arts," but in my book it's the Festival of the Food. Yes, the art is nice to look at, but I'm really just there for the food. I mean with Indian tacos, chocolate dipped cheesecake and Strawberries Newport to eat, I get a little distracted from the Art. I've gone every year with my family and this year I actually am volunteering. If you will be at the festival tonight, come find me at the balloon booth!

Second is the NBA playoffs. I think almost everyone can attribute the change we've seen in Oklahoma City to the arrival of the Thunder. They have added so much life the city. Playoffs started Sunday night and our next game is Wednesday. Fingers crossed I get to go to a game! (Daddy?)
