Bites of My Life

I'm so antsy for spring I can barely stand it. This weekend is daylight savings time and I am eagerly awaiting the return of sunny mornings and evenings that stay bright through 7 o'clock. I need a little spring in my step and I'm hoping the season change does just that. Things were starting to pep up, but then then took a little slide down. Some saddening news and unfortunate circumstances were unwelcome this past week.

Bad news typically means good news is on the horizon. In the grand scheme of thing I'm always reminded there is more positivity in my life than the negative. I'm counting my blessings and squeezing those who mean the most to me extra tight.

-I have had the strongest craving for banana bread recently, so no work on Monday meant baking must be done. I used What's Gaby Cooking's recipe minus the chocolate chips.
-Puppy brother gets cuter everyday.
-My love for these lettuce wraps is to much. You have to check out last week's recipe post if you haven't already!
-Thank you Health Warrior, I now have a lifetime supply of chia bars.
-It's called Yummy Chicken for a reason.
-Cravings by Chrissy Teigen is finally here! Can't wait to cook up so many of her recipes!
-Have you tried Siggi's new vanilla and cardamon? Not as amaze as I hoped but still good!
-A box of sunshine to brighten your day. More on June Box in last weeks post.
-Slow start to my Sunday. Recipe on instagram.

Round of applause for Spotlight!!! I hadn't seen any Oscar nominated movies until Saturday night when one of my roommates and I went to see Spotlight. I was bias with it being the only movie I saw, but I felt like it deserved a clean sweep of wins for every category it was nominated in. Even with only one win, best picture trumps all. Rachel McAdams one best dressed in my book so it was more like two wins for Spotlight.

After getting over a little allergy bug and what felt like an extra long work week, it was nice to end it with a low maintenance weekend, time with my new puppy brother and a full fledge Oscar watch party. Now it's off to a barre class to counteract all the puppy chow and hummus from last night...

-A taste of paradise with the recreation of this shrimp wrap and zesty cocktail sauce I had in Arizona.
-Red velvet should be eaten as a cake, not a flavor for yogurt...
-Spring scouting with Scout bags.
-Hello pretty friends!
-Cannot wait to share the recipe for these thai cashew lettuce wraps, coming to TAB tomorrow!
-GNO + rosΓ© + tiramisu.
-Granny smiths and almond butter never gets old.
-Sippin' on Saturday.
-My second Taste the World box arrived full of goodies from Thailand!
-Spicy grits with pulled pork, green chili sauce and two poached eggs, kudos 501.
-Churro puppy chow, brown sugar sriracha sesame popcorn, edamame hummus, stuffed mushrooms, cheese and crackers, and grapefruit cocktails. It was a super bowl kind of spread for our Oscar watch party.
-Sips and scores. Only 9 out of 24 for me.

Bites of My Life

Hello spring, hello allergies! Nothing is better than getting a few peeks at spring weather, except when that means the inflow of torturous spring allergies. I had been un-anxiously awaiting their arrival and low and behold I woke up Friday morning to a bite from the allergy bug. I was joking with my mom that I knew I was going to get sick soon because as a kid I always had to miss the Valentine's Day party at school because of allergies.

Sneezing, coughing and sore throats aside, last week was a good one.  I think my January/winter depression has finally made its way out the door. Things are looking up up up. In my personal and work life things are pointing north. The new addition to the Tucker family isn't making anything hard either. If you follow me on Instagram you have already met #GabeTheBabe. My parents finally pulled the plug and brought a new puppy home. We are completely smitten and I'm having a hard time letting him out of my site. I'm going to be his most popular babysitter/dognapper...

-Homemade red sauce and spaghetti squash happened three nights in a row last week.
-New breakfast alert: Almond milk, frozen berries and granola. Amaze!
-My days at work are split between planning events and being the resident barista. Our new office coffee machine is sliiiiiightly distracting.
-Not to toot my own horn, but I can make a mean bowl of guacamole.
-Visions of green after a pit stop at The Fit Pig for a Vim + Vigor juice and the new RXBar.
-After the allergies swooped in, my diet consisted of hot tea, cough drops and chicken noodle soup. Have y'all seen these new Campbell's Soup Keurig pods? Not bad.
-First meeting with my new puppy brother. I swore I would never be that obsessed dog person...oops!
-Doctors orders called for froyo.
-#GabeTheBabe getting his daily modeling in.
-Sundays, sniffles and steel cut oats. Power of three I suppose?
-Unexpected quickie visit from one I miss the most!
-Craving for vanilla wafers = make homemade vanilla wafers.

Bites of My Life

Kudos to an incredible weekend. I was slightly distracted all week with sights set on getting to go out of town this past weekend. A great family friend got married in Scottsdale, AZ , so the whole gang reunited for a celebratory weekend in paradise! 87 degrees both days, incredible food, the best of friends, a little shopping here and there and just all around great times about sums up the weekend. We made a stop at my favorite store and my favorite market. My belly and my suitcase where much more full on the way home.

#HappilyEverHerritt was just perfect. I was in such a need of a little getaway weekend. It's typically hard to adjust coming off a great trip, but I'm feeling refreshed and ready. Ready for spring weather, new opportunities, and fresh feelings.

-Came home to Spicy Chili Lime soup made by roomie Madeline. The spice may have singed our throats but it sure did clear out those sinuses!
-Finally tried the beet yogurt from last weeks bites. Opted to try this savory yogurt concept paired with more breakfast for dinner. Verdict--> good but wouldn't buy it again.
-Big hugs and kisses to my SCOUT crew. Thanks for my goodies, miss y'all so much. Check out the new collection ASAP if you haven't.
-Thursday night got a little kinky.
-Valentine making for galentines.
-A new nutrition bar to try thanks to my foodie friend Clara!
-First meal in Scottsdale and can't wait to recreate it. Shrimp wrap with sweet potato tots.
-Frozen mojitos with rum whipped cream just entered my life and they are never leaving it. Thank you for that Sumo Maya.
-A quickie little hike to fit in with the locals.
-A weekend in paradise did me well.
-My peeps run deep, just missing our New Yorkers.
-Homemade red sauce over spaghetti squash for me, myself and I.

Bites of My Life

Hello food coma. Holy cow there is still so much spinach artichoke, queso, mexican sweat (don't ask) and buffalo chicken dip just chilling in my tummy post Super Bowl snacking. Oh and cookie butter popcorn, chocolate chip cookies and a Hickory Farms meat and cheese board. Do I regret it? no. Does my body regret it? yes. But one can never regret an event where food is the MVP.

Last week was nice. An easy ease into a new month. New recipes got posted, a new grocery store in the neighborhood opened (I'm a sucker for a good grocery store) and Mr. Groudhog didn't see his shadow, so I'm happily looking forward to spring coming a bit sooner.

-I love putting warm oatmeal in an almost empty jar of AB, but this plastic Barney Butter container couldn't quite handle the heat.
-Loving power balls for a post-early morning workout snack before I'm ready for breakfast. Posted the whole recipe for these Pecan Spice Power Balls on instagram.
-An epic clean out the fridge meal. Grated sweet potatoes hash with baked eggs and avo.
-CCC recipe round 4!
-Cookie Butter Popcorn is my everything right now. It was a hit at my Super Bowl Party, but is also perfect for any holiday just switch up the sprinkles.
-Can't wait to try the Blue Hill beet yogurt I brought home from Uptown Grocery. Most turned their nose, but I'm all about the weird flavors. Sweet potato and butternut squash sound so good too, but I think I'll pass on tomato and parsnip.
-Weekend breakfasts are a little unbeatable. AB toast with bluebs and hemp hearts with a soft boiled egg that turned out hard boiled.
-Crock pot spinach and artichoke dip was my contribution to the Super Bowl feast.
-Stay tuned for a second post coming later today. I have a special surprise with this one you won't want to miss.
