Bites of My Life

One week! One week until Christmas. I love the busyness of this time of year, yet also the calmness. Work is busy trying to wrap up last minute projects before everyone goes full on holiday mode, but it’s also slower than normal as everyone does indeed, already have Christmas on the brain. Socially I’m busy, but with all the good things. I’m glad I could kick my cold last week to gear up this week for Robert Earl Keen, a cookie decorating party, a Christmas friend dinner, two Christmas parties then the main event.

-Finished Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine last week. Didn’t love it, has anyone else read it?
-The seasonal cold saga continues. Tried to kick it naturally with Elderberry Syrup, Zinc and Vitamin D. The trifecta according to my friends Powell.
-Low key the coolest new place to live in OKC. If you are in the market, check out West Village.
-The cutest Christmas cookies dressed up for our company holiday happy hour last week,
-Cornbread with a size of gumbo.
-Trendy healthy foodie vibes at Provision Kitchen.
-Hey OKC, have you been to Cafe Disco yet?
-Organic Squeeze pro tip: sub coconut water for your liquid and add maca. You still get a creamy taste like you would from almond milk, but with bigger health benefits.
-Made a batch of my favorite mix to portion out and give as gifts!

Extra bite: With 2019 just around the corner, read up on the projected wellness trends we should expect to see. I’m also working on two resolution posts. My 2018 resolution is to get said posts up before 2019 ;)

Bites of My Life

I had (still have) a kleenex to my nose all weekend, and got prettttty bored doing nothing, but it was nice to use my cold as an excuse to do absolutely nothing this weekend. I”m sure it helped, but I’m still trying to ward off a cold. However, lot’s of hot tea, Christmas movies and time on the couch doesn’t leave me much to complain about!

-I just love the way my house glows this time of year.
-Merriest and brightest place in the city!
-My newest MBM’s that I can’t get enough of!
-Last day with our beloved intern at work, so tacos and a few tears were put on the agenda.
-Did I mention I love the way my house glows this time of year?
-Friday night in with a head cold, so I opted to clear out my sinuses with this easy at home curry. Just frozen stir fry veggies with coconut milk, spices and a little cornstarch to thicken.
-We were supposed to get snowed in this weekend but not even a flake of snow showed up. I was set on some snow day baking, so gingerbread men were still made with White Christmas on in the background.
-Had a visitor show up during my baking, but she had no interest in being my sous chef.
-We gifted my mom a cooking class at the new Sur La Table for her birthday back in October. We finally had our class last night and loved it! Loved the food we made even more - pork chops with verde sauce over polenta with mushroom ragu.

Bites of My Life

Double the bites post, double the apologies for sucking at blogging lately. I had all intentions of posting last week, but life happens and then you get a cold, that turns into a sinus infection, that turns into a week of wanting to do anything to feel better, and do nothing that has to do with blogging.

But today you are getting a bite of my life. A double dip kind of bite (even better in my opinion). Getting this post together and live is partially driven by my yoga friend, Victoria. Hi Victoria!

Despite my lack of getting anything out there, but a measly bites of my life post, Victoria mentioned to me in our yoga class last week that she doesn't mind that I've only been posting BOML lately. She said she loves the weekly snapshots! I'll be honest. If I were a reader I would probably never read my BOML. I pretty much only write them for me. For an online journal of my life, so I can look back and see what I did each week over these past few years. (Which I do. I love to go back and read old BOML)! But to hear other people actually read these kind of post too, well, I guess I better be better about actually getting them out there! So thank you Victoria for being the fuel behind my lack of energy to post these days.

6/5-6/11

-After outfitting our team at the restaurant in Hedley & Bennett, I've been coveting my own H&B, but now I'm a proud owner of my owner and member of the #apronsquad!
-Lavender Acai smoothie. Still perfecting the recipe but a goodie for sure!
-Say hello to my new mint chocolate chip bestie!! I've wanted a cruiser for about the past 6 years and now she is all mine!

-My favorite way to start the day. Avocado omelette @ En Croute!
-Showing off what I've been doing the past months to mom and dad last Sunday!

6/12-6/18

-Kicking off sick week summer 2k17 with a bowl of veggies and goods to try to kick my immune system back into gear! Not pictured the copious amounts of Emergen-C, Cold-Ease, Ibuprofen, Zyrtec and antibiotics.
-When you buy a waterproof disposable camera for Memorial Weekend and you finally get the prints back! I felt like I was in 2003. Never know whatcha gonna get!
-Like I said before, my favorite way to start the day!
-Treat yourself Wednesday! Highly recommend Amanda's Aesthetics for a facial if you're local!

Bites of My Life

Gilmore Girls, cookies, happy hour, work, workout, eat repeat all led up to head out of town to the big D for OU/Texas weekend. Once in Texas it was shopping, eating, friends, late nights and a not so average gameday. We won, but I lost a bit. I love a weekend away, but nothing feels better than walking in your front door after a few days out of town.

-Protein packed Monday with this round up of protein bars I got at the store.
-I see matcha and I'm intrigued. I tried Trader Joe's matcha mix and it is as good as it gets. Highly recommend!
-Monday's work from home included lunch al fresco instead of al desko.
-Kathleen and I thought we were the only true Gilmore Girls fans who would wake up at 7am for #HappyBirthdayGilmore. Got to our local #LukesDiner (Cuppies and Joe) and were about 250 in line...turns out we aren't the only GG freaks. Skipped the line and opted for coffee at Hank's down the street. This all while wearing flannels and backward baseball caps...
-A friendly game of kickball happens every Wednesday this fall. I may not be the best player, but I provide the halftime snacks!
-Cauliflower fried rice made authentic by being served in a leftover take out box.
-First comes the dough, then comes the best cookies ever. Recipe posted last week.
-Double the tikka c/o TJ's. Both are take a bite approved!
-Roommates by day, college rivals on Saturdays.
-My gameday turned out a little different and I sadly had to swap my fair corny dog for crackers and ginger ale.
-Still easing a queasy stomach with the #1 comfort food and a lazy Sunday on the couch.
-Testing out making my own coconut milk coffee creamer, taste TBD.
